Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

People around us are doing what they can to get back to life as normal in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. You can’t ignore the fact, however, that cases are spiking, and wearing facemasks may be a step necessary to help flatten the curve. A number of major retailers have jumped on the bandwagon in recent months, including Sam’s Club, Walmart, Starbucks, and Costco. The latest to join that list of retailers is Kohl’s, and starting this week, shoppers will need to wear a face mask.

The new policy was announced on Wednesday.

“As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, face covering mandates have grown to apply to approximately 70% of our store base, therefore we’ve made the decision to take a consistent approach across our entire store fleet. Beginning Monday, July 20, we will require all customers to wear a face covering while shopping in our stores.”

Signs at the front of the store will inform customers that they need to wear a face mask. There will also be greeters posted at the entrance to welcome customers and to remind them to put a mask on.

Kohl’s is also implementing other safety measures, such as touchless belching entry, daily cleaning, protective barriers at the registers, sanitizing carts between use, signage in the stores, maintaining social distancing, and limited occupancy. Employees are also required to undergo a temperature check, and they have to wear gloves and a face mask while working.

If you are offended by the need to wear a face mask, you can always shop online and use the limited contact drive-up service to pick up your order.
