When you think about fried chicken, more than likely, KFC comes to mind. The Colonel’s secret recipe is one that brings people from around the world into their fast-food restaurants and through their drive-up lanes.
It may have something to do with the secret 11 herbs and spices that are blended into the crust. Then again, it may all just be in the name.

For many years, when you went to get chicken from the Colonel, you would go to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Eventually, they ended up simplifying their name and changing it to KFC.
According to KFC, this change has been the legend of many different conspiracy theories, including the possibility that they don’t actually use chickens but they use some type of mutant bird that was scientifically engineered.

Let’s put aside the conspiracy theories for now and talk about the real reason why the switch was made to KFC. The change didn’t have anything to do with chicken, it had everything to do with fried. At least, that’s what they want you to think.
KFC claims that they got away from the bigger name because they wanted to be more health-conscious for their patrons. That isn’t exactly true, however, because there is a much easier reason and it all has to do with simplicity.

In 1991, Kentucky Fried Chicken decided to rename itself as KFC. The real reason why they wanted to do it is that they wanted a shorter name.
Simplifying in this way made it easier and faster to say. According to some sources, there were many people who were already using the acronym. It also worked along with taking the fried chicken out of the mix, although that is really what makes the chicken so delicious!
