Many people grew up watching Julia Child and they may even have learned how to cook by watching her show.

Even if you aren’t old enough to remember the show when it was on TV, you would likely recognize her on video. Her distinct voice is easily recognized.

It doesn’t matter if you are a fan or not, you really can’t help but jump at the offer when you have the opportunity to stay at her home. That former home of Julia Child and her husband, Paul, is now available to rent through Airbnb.

La Pitchoune, or “the little one,” was the summer getaway for Julia Child in the 1960s through the 1990s. It is located in the south of France, and there are still many who remember the home quite well. Much of the home is locked in time, and it looks just like when Julia Child was cooking in the kitchen.

The American kitchen by Julia Child is in the Smithsonian National Museum of American history. That room is now viewable on display, but La Pitchoune is a working home and you can stay there.

There is no doubt that you will appreciate the historic kitchen in the home, but there is much more to it. It features three bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a beautiful garden, and a saltwater pool. The outdoor kitchen is also the perfect place to enjoy some cooking when the weather is nice.

If you would like to bring some friends on this Airbnb adventure, it can sleep up to six adults. You can dine on-site and you can even take an all-day cooking class for $1500. It includes wine pairing, instructions, making a multicourse meal, and a shopping trip.

If you’re not interested in making your own meal, you can always hire a private chef for $500 but you will have to pay extra for the ingredients and alcohol.

In 2015, La Pitchoune went on sale for $880,000. People have been renting it as a vacation home since that time and you can still book it for $703 per night. You might have a hard time finding an open date, but it is well worth the try.
