There are about a million and one ways to use Jello in cooking, but did you know you can use it to make frosting? You can! It makes a colorful, thick and sturdy frosting that tastes a little reminiscent of candy. It’s a fun frosting that provides a nice change from your usual basic buttercream, and you only need a few ingredients and a few spare minutes to make it.

Jello frosting uses a package of Jello mix, some granulated sugar, an egg white, vanilla extract, and a bit of boiling water.

You just mix together the first four ingredients and then gradually mix in the boiling water, and then beat everything together until it’s nice and fluffy.

That takes about five minutes, tops, and thanks to the egg white and gelatin, you get a thick, substantial frosting that’s delightfully sweet and flavorful.

The consistency of this frosting means that it sets up fast so you need to work quickly when you’re piping, but it holds its shape beautifully.

Since you can make so many great colors depending on what flavor you use – lime, blue raspberry, grape, watermelon – this makes an ideal frosting for kid’s birthday parties or holidays where you’re looking for something vibrant and fun. Give it a try!
