Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

If you are reading this article, obviously you speak English. The little girl in the video below, however, is speaking Italian and she is doing it in the best way possible.

The fact is, you don’t have to speak Italian to know what she is saying. That little girl, Matilde, is trying to get her point across to her mother and she is doing a great job of it.

Not only can you tell that she has something serious on her mind by her voice, but you can also see it in her hand gestures as well. She has the classic pinched finger Italian hand gesture down pat.

That gesture, which is known as a mano a borsa, is often used to express frustration or to show disbelief. It is sometimes referred to as the Italian finger purse.

Matilde is doing a great job of letting her parents know exactly what she wants.

The video was such a popular hit on TikTok that her parents reposted the video a second time. You have to admit that the little girl is adorable, even if you don’t speak Italian.

If you are curious about what she is trying to get across to her parents, what she’s saying is translated as:

“She told me ‘what are you thinking going out in a miniskirt? I’m watching out for you.’ But I put on my own miniskirt. You mind your own business. Think about your own mini skirt, don’t worry about mine.”

This isn’t the first time that Matilde has gone viral on TikTok. She is regularly seen in videos, some when she was younger. She is able to express herself well in both words and gestures.

Here is another video where she is showing her ability to get fashion just right. She’s wearing high-heeled adult boots and telling her father to hurry up.

Even if she doesn’t know what she is trying to get across by using those gestures, she does a great job of imitating what she sees around her. It allows these stereotypes to get passed down from one generation to another.
