A funeral is typically a solemn occasion, regardless of what the final wishes of the deceased may be. Sure, we may all wish that our funerals would serve as a celebration of our lives.

However, you cannot stop people from crying and being sad that their loved one is gone. That’s what makes this story such an amazing one and we cannot stop laughing at this man’s chutzpah. He was able to come up with the perfect plan to cut through all of the mourning.

It’s hard to make people laugh at a funeral but this man managed to achieve that difficult goal. Shay Bradley, a Dublin grandfather, and a prank god, is the one who was able to pull it off. He was able to pre-record a message before his big send-off.

The message was slated to be played when his friends and loved ones gathered around his burial site. Usually, this is a straight-faced occasion, a moment when even the toughest person might end up dropping a tear or two. Once the bagpipes started to play, the bit began, and let us tell you, it was a very good one.

You know how good a bit has to be to send an entire burial site into hysterics? People were treated to his voice calling out “Hello?” and then he recorded a knocking sound, to make it seem like it was coming from the inside of the casket. That was not all, either. The joke only gets funnier from there but allow us to warn you….the language is not safe for work or the ears of children.

“Hello? Hello? Let me out, it’s f—ing dark in here! Let me out. Is that the priest I can hear?” he calls. Many of his loved ones started laughing right then and there but that was not all. Once he launched into his own rendition of “Home Again” by Neil Diamond, that was all it took. Even the most reticent members of the crowd started to crack smiles by that point.

According to the Irish Mirror, the man’s daughter, Andrea, posted the video on Facebook, saying, “My dad’s dying wish, always the pranksters, ya got them good Poppabear. And gave us all a laugh just when we needed it!!”

His wife did not even know about the recording until the day of the funeral. “Shay was a prankster, always thought outside the box and wanted to leave his family laughing,” she said, according to Bored Panda. “He was a larger than life character and sadly missed by anyone who knew him.”
