This boss is here to provide those who need to call out of work with the perfect tutorial.

It’s always unfortunate when illness or family emergencies arise. For most of us, calling out of work is not ideal. That’s why these pointers are so crucial. No one wants to leave their employer in the lurch or appear to be non-sympathetic to any staffing issues that they may cause.

Hannah MacDonald hails from Toronto and goes by @hannahkmacd1 on TikTok. She works as a sales and marketing manager, so she has a lot of experience when it comes to these particular calls.

Her family also owns their own employment agency. That’s why she’s such a pro when it comes to helping people navigate the harsh realities that are associated with modern employment.

Believe it or not, there are dos and don’ts when it comes to calling off. Hannah is now providing a template so that people are able to avoid unpleasant confrontations with their employers.

Sickness happens and problems arise. We need to be prepared for these moments and thanks to her seven-second clip, it has never been easier to do so.

“Hey boss, I appreciate your continual concern,” her suggested message begins. “I am sick today and will not be able to work. I will keep you updated as the day comes to an end on my intentions for tomorrow.”

This is simple enough and we can see why this would be more palatable to an employer. It indicates concern for their employer’s problems and shows a willingness to get back to work as soon as possible.

“I think that a lot of people spend some time in jobs where it is really hard to call in sick. Whether it’s retail on Black Friday or a grocery store before Christmas or just a restaurant on a Friday night, it puts your manager in a harder spot — and the rest of your coworkers,” MacDonald said, according to the New York Post. “In reality, it’s your team’s responsibility to stand beside you and say, ‘Get better and come back rested, ready to give 100% we got your back!’ — not, ‘OK, but are you really sick?'”
