Each year, we all set out with the best of intentions to make positive changes in our lives. Some of us strive to eat better or exercise. Others make a vow to save up some money. And others might choose to get back into an old hobby they enjoyed or try out a new one. But if you’re like me, you’re most likely to try and do all the reading possible.

I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a certified bookworm. I love reading. Every year I challenge myself to read 100 books. Of course, every year I don’t get anywhere near that number. But it’s nice to try.

Still, you might find that you’re comparing yourself to others in terms of reading goals. It’s so easy to look at other readers on social media and think that they’re somehow doing way better than you. But you might be surprised to know that according to the Pew Research Center, the average American reads about 12 books a year. Granted, that is just the average.

If you want to know where you might fall into that statistic, you can actually take a test by Lenstore to help determine how many books you might manage to read in a year

It’s simple, you just click on the test and then read the passages at your natural speed. Once you’ve finished, you can go ahead and answer questions about the reading to prove you read it and understood it. Then, the test will calculate your score.

Lenstore has administered the test to 1600 people and from there, found that the average person completed the reading in 101 seconds. That means, if you read for 30 minted a day, you could get through 33 books in a year. If you’re a speed reader then that could go up to 55 books in a year. And broken down, 30 minutes of reading a day becomes just over one book per week.
