Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Super Bowl Sunday is fast approaching, and, if you’re like me, Super Bowl Sunday is more about the food than the actual game.

I don’t really follow football, but I don’t let that stop me from enjoying all the snacks that game day has to offer. In addition to a table spread of chips, dips, wings, etc., there is another big staple: beer. You can’t enjoy a Super Bowl game without a cold one.

And now, there is a new drink that you’ll want to try that also combines a classic chili-cheese dip flavor. Hormel has just released their new Hormel Chili Cheese Brew.

According to a press release, it’s a beer that is brewed using Minnesota Pilsner barley malt and flaked corn to give it that corn chip base flavor. Then, the Modist Brewing Co. comes in and adds a “mix of savory spices and hints of cheddar cheese powder” in order to enhance that chili and cheese flavor.

As the Chili brand manager, Jason Hron, explained in a statement, “Football season is just as much about the game as it is about delicious food and drinks, and the people you enjoy watching the game with. This year we were inspired to bring fans together and create something everyone can agree on — an irresistible sip that unites the best flavors of our famous Hormel Chili Cheese Dip.”

Given how different it is, this item will only be available for a limited time on Hormel’s website from January 24 until just before the Super Bowl on February 12. It comes in four packs and will be priced at $24, including shipping and handling.

While it might be the first beer that is flavored like chili cheese, it’s not the first time that beer companies have rolled out different flavored beers.
