Heavenly Hash is one of those classic retro desserts that feels like it came straight from a church potluck or a family reunion table. It’s light, sweet, and loaded with fruit, which makes it feel both indulgent and refreshing at the same time. Recipes like this have been passed around for generations because they’re easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser. With just a few simple ingredients, this one couldn’t be easier to make!

At its heart, Heavenly Hash is all about texture and balance. The fluffy Cool Whip forms a soft base, while mandarin oranges and pineapple add bright, juicy bursts of flavor. Mini marshmallows bring a little chew, and chopped maraschino cherries add sweetness along with a pretty pop of color. A splash of cherry juice ties everything together and gives the whole dish that classic pink tint people love.

This recipe couldn’t be easier to put together. You start by gently softening the Cool Whip, then carefully fold in the fruit, marshmallows, cherries, and cherry juice. The key here is not to overmix—keeping things light and fluffy is what makes Heavenly Hash live up to its name. Right before serving, a sprinkle of chopped pecans on top adds just the right amount of crunch.

Heavenly Hash is perfect for holidays, potlucks, or anytime you need a quick dessert that feeds a crowd. It’s best served chilled and can be made a few hours ahead, which makes it great for entertaining. Whether you remember this dish from growing up or you’re trying it for the first time, it’s the kind of sweet, simple dessert that never really goes out of style.
