New dating trends emerge on a constant basis and we find ourselves dying of laughter at most of them. Social media has a way of making modern dating look very challenging.

To be honest, we are glad that we did not have to come of age in the modern era. It does feel like things are a bit less simple than they used to be.

For example, you or someone else that you know has probably been ghosted before. It’s not the best feeling in the world but all we can do is pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and try again. Now, we are here to discuss a new dating trend that has emerged.

As we sit here and think about it, it is not actually that new. It is one of those things that has existed for some time and people have finally been able to come up with a proper name for it.

The trend is referred to as getting “zombie” and as you might have already guessed, it is the exact opposite of ghosting. Mariel Darling is a singer/songwriter who has taken to TikTok and is doing their best to explain it.

“Girl, you’re being ghosted? I’m being zombied,” she shared with her following.

She was more than happy to hold court and provide the correct explanation. “It’s like being ghosted, but he comes back from the dead after a couple of months and hits you up,” she says. That makes perfect sense to us. Whether you are you a man or a woman, you have probably been on the receiving end of one of these messages. It’s what happens when people’s first option does not go as planned.

The comments were filled with all sorts of funny stories as well. “I saw someone say she puts gravestone emojis on their name in contacts so she knows not to deal with them anymore,” said one viewer.

“I think I’m being zombied. One day he ignores me, one day he looks at me as if I’m the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen and texts me till 3 am,” another admits.
