There are moments in every airline journey when you are going to feel compelled to press the call button.
While there is nothing wrong with that urge, this flight attendant is here to explain why that decision can be problematic from time to time. She wants people to know the dos and don’ts of the process so that they are making informed decisions going forward.
@katkamalani has taken to TikTok to explain why so many people are making this all-too-common mistake and how it can be avoided in the future.
As it turns out, you are actually driving the flight attendants on your plane “bonkers” if you choose to press it during the wrong moments. According to her video, these moments are so inopportune for pressing the button that you shouldn’t be doing it, even if you are about to throw up.
There are three key moments that she chose and they all make perfect sense to us. The button should not be pressed while the plane remains on the tarmac. The button should also not be pressed when the plane is in the process of ascending or descending. These should be obvious to anyone but we suppose that there are people out there who needed it explained to them.
Otherwise, we highly doubt that she would have felt compelled to make the video in the first place. “It drives flight attendants bonkers when you hit your flight attendant button if we are on the tarmac or if we’re going up or down on the aircraft,” she explains.
“And the reason being it’s a huge safety issue for us, we could get injured and same with you guys. So if we’re on the tarmac, you hit this and it’s not some kind of emergency we’re going straight back to our seat. If you hit this while we’re going up on the aircraft or we’re going down landing, we won’t even come to the light we’ll come to it afterwards. But don’t hit this button if you need a barf bag or a blanket, water, headphones, food, any of that stuff because your flight attendant won’t be so happy,” she continued.
