Baby names are fascinating to us, as we love to see which ones are most popular and which ones are starting to fade away. Certain baby names feel like they are going to be popular, while others feel more like flashes in the pan.

’90s kids probably remember going to class with other kids named Jessica or Michael. ’00s babies are already laughing because they can recall all of the Edwards and Bellas that they went to school with.

Nowadays, there is a great chance that your child will be sharing a classroom with someone named Oliver or Charlotte. 2023 is upon us and there are all sorts of new names to marvel at. On the other hand, there are also names that are starting to fall by the wayside. The good folks at BabyCenter have compiled a very interesting list in this regard.

The list is derived from data that was submitted about various baby names that were given over the course of the past two years.

For example, those who had gotten tired of seeing all of the names that begin with K are sure to love this list. These names finally seem to be falling out of favor and not a moment too soon, if we are being 100 percent honest.

Khalid, Kian, Kyle, and Kobe are all names that are on the verge of dropping off the “most popular” list. Meanwhile, there are some other names that look to be going extinct and some of them are surprising. Arjun is at the top of the list and this one is surprising to us, mostly because we had no idea that it was so popular in the first place.

Walter and Royce are also sliding down the list quickly. Walter is especially interesting to us because we cannot shake the feeling that the name had a resurgence in recent years because of people who were either big Breaking Bad fans or had found the show after it was already completed.

If you’re looking to choose a more unique name for your child, maybe using a name at risk of disappearing is the way to go!
