While most of us would like to believe that a clean toilet is the secret to a freshly scented bathroom, there are other ways to make sure that these rooms smell great. In fact, most of us have failed to consider the fact that our toilet paper choices play a greater role in this than we realize.
Our friends over at Reader’s Digest have passed this tip along, and trust us, it is an excellent rule to follow.
To get started, you will need a roll of toilet paper. It does not even have to be a full one. Grab some essential oil as well. Citrus scents are in your best interests here, as they allow us to cover up the scents in our bathrooms that are less than pleasant. Citrus also has one of the cleanest smells that you are going to come across.
Once you have obtained these simple items, there is just one step that needs to be followed and the rest takes care of itself. Take five or so drops of the oil and place them on the cardboard inside of the toilet paper roll. That’s all it takes to change the odor of the bathroom permanently. This may seem too good to be true but we are here to tell you that it is not.
We have already tried the hack in our own bathroom and it’s worked out awesomely so far. What makes it truly great is that you do not actually have to do anything when you have used the toilet. The scent will always kick in. When you roll the toilet paper as needed, the scent is reactivated and wafts through the room once more.
The pleasant scent lasts until the end of the roll, which is as good as it gets, in our humblest of opinions. There is one aspect that you are going to want to avoid. Make sure that you are not getting the essential oil on the paper itself, for reasons that should be obvious.
The oil should not be laid on too thick, either, or else you are risking soaking the toilet paper. If this happens, you are probably better off not using the paper in question.
