The process of hanging up Christmas lights can be a major pain in the backside. We fully understand the impulse to outsource this task and this dad has the right idea, in our humble opinion.
On the other hand, this is a classic “looked good on paper but doesn’t really work in execution” situation. He probably thought that this was genius at first but the universe quickly rejected that notion.
Instead of hanging up his Christmas lights by hand, this man came up with the bright idea of having a drone do it for him. The experienced flyers are probably already rolling their eyes at this plan and for good reason. The poor little flying machine could not handle the task because the lights were simply too much weight for it to bear.
We are surprised that this man did not see this coming but we can applaud the effort nonetheless. “Man attempts to use a drone to decorate a tree in his front yard, until it falls out of the sky,” the description reads and this sums it up pretty well. On the other hand, we cannot say that we blame him. It was worth a shot, right?
Christmas decorations may make the home look awesome to passersby but that does not make them any easier to deal with. Drones would seem like a natural choice to avoid these hassles. Perhaps this man simply needs to find a different one? We are open to suggestions on this one, just like he is.
Meanwhile, there are others who will suggest that he should just do it himself. After all, this is not what drones are made for. They are not supposed to be handling manual labor on our behalf.
It’s easy to say that now because things did not work, though. Nobody likes a Monday morning quarterback and as we all know, hindsight is always going to be 20/20 in these instances.
Maybe by the time next Christmas rolls around, there will be a drone available that can easily handle the stress of hanging Christmas lights on our behalf. Watch his attempt in the video below:
