Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Mosquitoes are not exactly a welcome house guest, are they? It’s not like anyone enjoys having them around. They are a pain in the butt, to say the least. The sound that they make while they are flying through the air is enough to drive anyone crazy and their bites are super itchy (and potentially dangerous as they are carriers of disease). While there are some bug sprays that will do the trick, they are not always as helpful as they could be.

Fortunately, we’ve got the hack that will keep these pesky bugs at bay all summer long. If we are going to be spending our summer at home, the least we can do is be comfortable. This recipe has been shared all over social media and blogs.

This do-it-yourself repellent can be made with three cups of Epsom salt, a bottle of cheap, blue mouthwash, and three stale beers (12 ounces are preferable). Once you have mixed this solution together, put it in your spray bottle, and use it as often as needed when you are sitting outside.

The results are definitely going to speak for themselves. Your deck and pool areas are most important, in addition to any high traffic areas outdoors. Don’t give the mosquitoes a chance to get comfortable! What’s even better? The solution won’t cause any harm to plants or flowers, so you can spray it worry-free.

If you would like to learn more about this hack, be sure to check out the full post from Insect Cop. This is the best trick that we have come across in some time and we cannot wait to put it into practice at our own homes. Summertime is our favorite time of year and it is going to be nice to spend it without the mosquitoes constantly nipping at our heels. Let’s all do our part to keep mosquitoes away by passing this post along to our friends!
