In many instances, antiperspirant and deodorant can seem interchangeable, but nothing is further from the truth.

Deodorant is worn by those who are looking to mask their body’s scent. On the other hand, antiperspirant is designed to block the sweat from happening in the first place. That seems simple enough, right?

So now that we are all clear on that, it’s time to delve into the major differences.

Antiperspirant is usually applied in the morning or before we head to the gym.

However, this application needs to be adjusted if you are going to be able to get the most out of your antiperspirant. Take the time to read the label the next time you buy yourself some. The best time to apply your antiperspirant is actually at night! Because it is designed to stop sweating before it starts, your best bet is to apply it before you actually start sweating. If you are applying the antiperspirant once you are at the gym, you have already lost the battle. Apply this product right before you go to bed, so that it is 100 percent effective.

Deodorant does not come with these sorts of stipulations. If you are looking to eliminate certain odors, you can apply deodorant whenever you want. Be reasonable about it, so that you do not risk a rash.

The two are not actually interchangeable, no matter what anyone else may have told you about the matter.
