7. Raw Pasta

To make pasta in the microwave, place 1/2 or 1 cup of pasta in a microwave-safe bowl. Fill the bowl with water until the pasta is covered by an inch or two. Put a plate under the bowl and put the whole thing in the microwave. Heat for the pasta’s recommended cooking time, plus three or four more minutes. Rinse off the hot pasta and serve.

8. Make Corn on the Cob

For perfect corn on the cob, wrap a shucked ear of corn in a wet paper towel and put it on a plate. Microwave on high for about five minutes. Unwrap, and top with salt and butter.

9. Sterilize Your Kitchen Sponge

Kitchen sponges can get pretty gross after sustained use. Make sure yours is bacteria-free by microwaving the damp sponge on high for about 2 minutes.
