Leo and Ruth Zanger have a wonderful family. Some of you may believe that your family is big, but Leo and Ruth can prove otherwise. The couple has been married for over 60 years and not too long ago the Illinois couple welcomed their 100th grandchild. That number has recently reached 102.

The couple views all of their grandchildren as a blessing from God. He even joked that they could start their own town if they wanted to. While some families of this size might struggle to get together, this one has remained tightknit.

The Zanger family gatherings require a sizeable amount of food. Can you believe that they’ve been known to go through at least 50 pounds of ham at one sitting? The family is so big that they often struggle to find a place to gather so they often rent out large buildings for their family occasions.

Leo and Ruth have so many grandchildren that they were unaware that they were on the verge of their 100th until someone told them. Apparently, two of the grandchildren had a little competition going on to compete for who would give birth to the 100th grandchild first!

Donna Zanger Lane is the family historian and she’s responsible for keeping up with all of their milestones. Even after the birth of so many grandchildren, Leo and Ruth still welcome each of them as if that baby were the first. This is what keeps the couple so young.
