Copycat Longhorn Steakhouse Broccoli
Here’s how you make restaurant-style broccoli right at home.

For some reason, a simple side of restaurant vegetables tastes SO much better than vegetables at home. And Longhorn Steakhouse is a shining example of that. They take broccoli and turn it into the kind of thing you crave — which is saying a lot for broccoli — and no, it’s not just that they use a bunch of butter. Here’s how they do it and here’s how you can make it yourself at home:

What Ingredients Do You Need for Longhorn Steakhouse Broccoli?
It’s just a few simple things. You’ll need:
- Broccoli. (You probably assumed that.) You want florets for this.
- Butter.
- Fresh garlic.
- Parmesan.
- Salt and pepper.
- A lemon.

How do You Make Longhorn Steakhouse Broccoli?
I promise you can make this right at home and it’s going to be just as good.
First things first, you cook your broccoli. You can either boil it or steam it, but whatever you choose, make sure to not over-cook it. You want your broccoli to have some bite, not be mushy.

If you’re boiling, season the water with a big pinch of salt and add the broccoli and let it boil until it turns bright green, just two minutes or so. Then drain it and set it aside. (You don’t really need to do an ice bath for this to stop the cooking.)
Now that that saucepan is empty, add some butter to it and once that’s melted, add the garlic and cook it until it’s just fragrant, which should only take a minute. Add the broccoli back to the pan and toss it all together before you add some parmesan cheese and toss it again. The butter and residual water on the broccoli should emulsify a bit to form a garlicky sauce that coats every nook and cranny of the broccoli florets.

All that’s left to do it season it with some salt and pepper and give it a drizzle of lemon juice. The lemon isn’t wholly necessary but that extra hit of brightness and acidity really takes it to the next level. This is broccoli any kid will be happy to eat!
