Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

We all knew it was only a matter of time before the meta-verse began to welcome outsiders into the mix.

It seems as if Coca-Cola is one of the first to enter it, and they are offering the digital world an opportunity to taste their drink before it hits the shelves.

According to a Coca-Cola press release, their new Coca-Cola Zero Sugar Byte is sure to “bring the flavor of pixels to life,” although they don’t go too far into the subject. One thing is certain, it will be the first time this is offered in a virtual world.

Coca-Cola is teaming up with Fortnight, the popular videogame, in order to make it a reality. That video game, which is very popular among a younger audience, allows people to play and socialize in the same virtual space.

The creation of Pixel Point is the brainchild of Coca-Cola, along with help from PWR, a gaming company. They plan on building a custom island in Fortnight with that name.

Although many people play the standard Fortnight game, there are opportunities for anyone to create their own custom-built worlds. This includes big players, such as Coca-Cola. You can then enter those worlds in competitive mode, just as you would any other world in Fortnight.

If you go into Pixel Point, you will have an opportunity to “try” the new flavor of the virtual drink. You also have a variety of mini-games offered that are themed after Coca-Cola.

Eventually, on May 2, the real-world soda will hit the shelves in the United States. Although nobody is aware of what the drink tastes like as of yet, it is known to be something that is “transcending the digital and physical worlds,” according to Coca-Cola.
