Artificial intelligence (AI) has been in the news frequently in recent months. People use artificial intelligence for almost anything, from programming to research.
Undoubtedly, AI will eventually make life easier for most of us, but there are some ways that it may be doing so now. Thanks to Joan Manuel Hidalgo and a viral TikTok video, we can see evidence of this.
Hidalgo was bored and looking for something to do, so he built a machine that would butter toast and would do it automatically and flawlessly. After he showcased the video of the buttering machine on TikTok, it got more than 1.6 million views.
Think of it as a conveyor belt carrying bread through an assembly line. As it does so, the bread is perfectly toasted, but that is only part of the story.
Toward the end of the line, some butter is drizzled on the toast to create the perfect flavor while maintaining the crunch. The butter is spread evenly after drizzling through holes in a glass.
Life will always be difficult, and sometimes, we need to find a way to make life just a little better. Having the toast buttered for you and having it buttered perfectly is one step in the process.
Of course, those in the comment section were laughing it up, but they congratulated the creator for making something they considered worthwhile.
Some were even calling it the most helpful thing they had ever seen and a piece of pure genius.

I can’t necessarily say that this particular artificial intelligence will take over our lives. I would say, however, that it would be welcome in my kitchen.
