In order to save money during the holidays, she is getting rid of a few things that some families are taking for granted. @budgetingmum is the mother who is sharing these hacks and they are sure to be very polarizing. If you absolutely need to pinch pennies during this time of year, she is here to tell you more about what she thinks are the season’s biggest money wasters.
“Christmas on a budget this year?” she inquires, as she starts to rattle off her list of the biggest money wasters. The first thing to go were the matching pajama sets that families love to break out during the holiday season.
“Over £50 ($56) for a family of 4 matching PJ’s! Absolutely not,” she said. This is one we can understand, even if they are an adorable tradition that we are happy to partake in.
The Christmas Eve boxes that children get each year are also being nixed by this frugal mother. “Fancy Christmas eve boxes for this price? No way,” she says. We are not sure if we agree with that one either. If the first two suggestions irked you even a little bit, this last one is definitely going to infuriate you.
This mother has decided that Christmas lights are out as well. “Not to mention the prices of the electricity to run these things. It’s a no from me,” she continues. She may have a point but that does not mean that we have to agree with it. Christmas lights are simply too important to us, electric bills notwithstanding.
