If your household is anything like mine, you’re probably always looking for new breakfast ideas. There’s the standard stuff: bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, waffles that are always delicious… but sometimes you want something a little fun, a little novel. One way to get there is to take a few classics and combine them into another classic like, say, Pigs in a Blanket! These easy little guys combine a couple of store-bought shortcuts for a sweet and savory treat that’s so simple we’ll call it more of an idea than a recipe.

First things first, you’re going to need some cinnamon roll dough — the kind that comes in a can from the refrigerated section. You’ll unravel your dough, separate out the rounds…

… and then you want to cut each round into three pieces.

Flatten the piece of dough a bit and then wrap it around your favorite breakfast sausage. Pinch the edges of the dough together to make sure that cinnamon roll blankie is snug.

And then get ’em on a baking sheet.

They’ll take only twenty minutes or so in the oven until they’re lovely and golden.

But do you know what they still need? Glaze. And I know just what you’re going to ask me: “Can’t I just use the icing that comes in the package?” Of course you can. You can do whatever you want.

But I thought that these needed a little kiss of maple, so a quick little icing of maple syrup and powdered sugar was the perfect way to top these off. Enjoy!
