These Are The Banned Baby Names In The United States
One of the most important and perhaps enjoyable things that a parent will do is to name their child. It often happens a long time before the child is born and a lot of thought goes into the process.
There are also times, however, when a baby’s name may be rejected. Some of those names are banned in the United States for various reasons but primarily, it is because of naming conventions.

This came to light when Elon musk tried to name a child he was having X Æ A-12. They were told by the state of California that they couldn’t use that name, so they had a modify the name to use the XII instead. California also has other names that are restricted, including restricting them to 26 characters. It is also not possible to use emojis, pictographs, or any obscene names.
This may make you wonder why states have the ability to restrict baby names in the first place. It is due to the fact that, according to usa.gov, the issuance of the birth certificate is under state jurisdiction. As a result, they have the right to establish laws associated with those documents.
Although there may be restrictions on names throughout the United States, here are five states that have them and what they are.

New York: If you are having a baby in New York state, you will have to limit the first or middle name to 30 characters. You also have a 40-character limit on last names. Are you thinking about using a symbol or number? You can’t do it in New York.
Georgia: You can’t use any symbols in baby names in Georgia. This includes accent marks.
Ohio: Don’t even think about using a number in a name in Ohio but if you want to use an apostrophe or a hyphen, that is acceptable.

Virginia: Numbers or special characters can’t be used in Virginia. You also can’t use symbols in this state.
Texas: There is a 100-character limit on any of the three names you are given in the state of Texas. You are also limited to what can be written in the English alphabet but you can’t use numbers or diacritical marks.
At times, people have attempted to name their children and it was overturned by the state court. This includes names such as Santa Claus, Adolf Hitler, and Queen. Others have been rejected because they are trademarked brands.
