It doesn’t matter who we are, I think that we all have an appreciation for art. Of course, what is beautiful to one person may not necessarily be beautiful to another, but at times, there is a type of art that we can all appreciate.
Perhaps that is true of what this art history student has done with her talent. Not only does she paint beautiful paintings on the edges of books, but she also posts them on TikTok and has gone viral for it.
A number of videos have been posted by Maisie Jackson, a 22-year-old artist from England. Those videos show just how amazing art can be when it is put on the edge of books.
Some of the different books that have been graced with her art include The Lord of the Rings Trilogy and Harry Potter.
After posting videos online, they typically go viral quickly. It’s not out of the ordinary for them to reach millions of people within a short amount of time.

As an example, when she painted a picture on the edge of the seven Harry Potter books, more than 8 million people came to watch and see just what she was able to do.
In speaking with Fox News, Jackson said that she got started doing this type of art last summer. That being said, she has been painting for years but she decided to do something unusual.
At first, she painted an image of a hobbit hole on the edge of the book, The Hobbit. She really knew that she had something after that video went viral.
Of course, she only posted the video for fun at first but after it took off with views, she knew that she had something to offer. It’s an excellent way for her to share her talent and to do so in a way that is unique, to say the least.
She also says that she enjoys doing fore-edge paintings on Tolkien’s work. She tends to paint landscapes, and since middle earth has a variety of landscapes, it gives her something to shoot for.
It might take her a few hours to create one of these paintings but it’s not out of the ordinary for her to spend a few days on them. It really depends upon the detail and the subject, and in her words, “I often get very carried away with the details.”
Jackson is not only an artist, she is also studying art history and is in her final year in college. In other words, she only has a short amount of time to continue this work, and eventually, she hopes to move on to her artistry full-time and create something to sell on Etsy.
