Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

For parents, the process of sending their children off to school for the first time can be a scary one. This father was naturally frightened so he came up with a hack that may seem genius or awful, depending on your point of view.

This is one way to make sure that you are always able to keep an eye on your kids but some may not approve of it.

This father sewed an Apple AirTag into the tongue of his little girl’s shoes. He shared the hack on TikTok but he never could have expected all of the commentary that would take place as a result.

“When it’s your daughter’s first day of school,” he wrote in the video. He probably thought that parents would be cheering him on but nope!

A lot of parents wanted to know why he would do such a thing and of course, the Black Mirror comparisons took place soon after. Some parents thought that this dad had the right idea and an interesting debate emerged. To be quite honest, we are not even sure where we stand on it. We could be talked in both directions.

On one hand, we know what it is like to be a concerned parent. On the other hand, we are conflicted when it comes to the privacy of children. Kids should not be tracked all day long like this, even if their parents are concerned. At the end of the day, every parent has to make the decision that they feel is best for them.

The peace of mind that AirTags has to offer does not come cheaply, either. Each of these tags will run you at least $39 at the Apple store. Parents with more than one child will definitely have to think long and hard before emulating this father’s tactics.

As for us, we are still conflicted and we are not sure that we could ever bring ourselves to do this sort of thing. No judgment for the father here, though. Parental concern is nothing to scoff at.
