Slow Cooker Potpourri

Via serenitycove2.blogspot.com

Some of our favorite memories of the holidays revolve around smells. Whether it’s fresh pine, pumpkin pie, or cinnamon and orange. One easy way to get the sweet smell of the holidays any time of the year is to make some slow cooker potpourri! Of course, this is great for the holidays as well, when you’re not using the slow cooker for anything else. Simply throw some cinnamon sticks, apple peels, orange rinds, cloves, and cranberries in the slow cooker and fill half full with water. Heat it up and then open the lid to fill the house with wonderful scents! Remember to keep adding water to the slow cooker.

Makeshift Humidifier

Via One Good Thing

Humidifiers can be so helpful during the winter months when the air is dry and everyone seems to have a cold or whatever bug is going around the office. Humidifiers add moisture back into the air which can help dry skin, irritated eyes, sore throat, and symptoms of the common cold and the flu. Humidifiers can also be used for tropical house plants that need some extra moisture. To turn your slow cooker into a humidifier, simply fill it about 3/4 full and turn the setting on high. After an hour or so, you can move the lid to the side to let the moisture escape. Make sure to continue filling the slow cooker with water so it doesn’t run out!
