Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

For most mothers, the supermarket is a weekly trip, biweekly at worst. We can’t lie, it is a nice way to get out of the house at times.

In other instances, the supermarket run can be a pain in the backside. Regardless of how we feel, we usually try to stay on top of things, so that we are not left scrambling when we start to run out of stuff.

That’s what makes Tabitha’s story such an amazing one. You won’t be able to believe the shopping routine that she has come up with. Instead of going shopping on a consistent basis like the rest of us, she has come up with a galaxy brain solution that is sure to get lots of people talking. We are absolutely amazed.

There’s no weekly shopping for this mother. She would rather go once or twice a year and get it all over with then.

“We are a family of seven and we have five kids and this is just what works for us, not everybody would like to make this huge haul in one trip but that’s just how we like to do it. We’re hoping about four to six months that this will last us,” she explains.

This particular haul seems like it should last them for a good, long while. Tabitha grabbed 22 packets of pasta, 95 bags of chips, 24 chicken breasts, six bumper jars of olive oil, a year’s worth of rice, 20 pats of butter and 10 dozen eggs. That’s a staggering grocery list and you better believe that the bill that comes with it is not cheap.

The mother spends roughly $4,000 for each trip but for a family that large? We are sure that it is not that bad once you start to do the math on it. As you would expect, it is quite the production when it comes time for the family to bring all of this food back home with them.

“This Costco haul is like an all day event. We headed out right away when they opened at 10am right now it’s 4pm and we’re still going. By the time I’m done putting everything away it will probably be nighttime,” Tabitha says. She went on to say that this food is going to last the family a very long time, since they do not go out to eat regularly.
