Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

If you have a KitchenAid mixer at home, you probably use it for the occasional baking, especially recipes that call for kneading dough. Or, perhaps you’re among the crowd of people who purchased the popular kitchen tool (or were gifted one) and used it for a while, but now it’s more of an ornamental piece in your kitchen. Either way, we have some awesome tips that will get you excited about using this wonderful kitchen tool! There are so many things you can do with your KitchenAid aside from baking. Go ahead and check some of these ideas out!

Shredding Meat

We’ve been using the old fork method for shredding meat, but this is much easier. We can’t believe we haven’t thought about this before! Simply by using the paddle attachment on your KitchenAid mixer, you can easily shred chicken or beef. These are both great meats to prepare ahead of time and freeze so you can make meal prep easier throughout the week. Try out our Creamy Green Chile Chicken Tortilla Casserole or Slow Cooker Cuban Beef!

Fruit & Vegetable Strainer

This attachment might look cumbersome, but it can be so useful, especially if you are making your own baby food. Of course, it has other uses as well, such as making the perfect applesauce. As you can see, the strainer separates the skin and core from the meat of the apple. One bowl holds your compost while the other holds your food!

Slicer & Grater

This attachment is definitely worth your money if you use cheese in a lot of recipes. And let’s face it, most dishes are better with cheese, right? Cheeses like mozzarella can be difficult to slice because they are so soft, while cheese like parmesean can be difficult because they are so hard. Never fear! This slicer and grater works well for soft cheese, hard cheese, and everything in between. Use it for our Cheesy Herbed Pasta or Cheesy Taco Rice Skillet!

Spiralizer

Spiralizing veggies has been all the rage these last few years. If you’re new to the spiraling trend, these veggie noodles are ideal as a healthy replacement for pasta. If you’ve set any health goals for this year, then the spiralizer attachment might just be perfect for you! Try it out on our Zoodled Chicken Pad Thai!

Fruit & Veggie Sheet Slicer

Going right along with the veggie noodle trend, this sheet slicer cuts veggies and fruit into long, thin strips. It’s great for making things like our No-Noodle Eggplant Zucchini Lasagna or just a simple snack like chicken salad roll ups, using apple sheets instead of tortillas. This is another great attachment that will help with meal prep, especially if you’re looking for healthy alternative to incorporate into your favorite recipes!
