One Instagram and TikTok user, Jasmine Chiswell, decided to combine her love of Disney princesses and other beloved characters with her love of all things 1950s. Her Instagram is filled with beautiful, Marilyn Monroe-esque photo shoots.

The Trend Spotter has a great summary of the iconic 1950s style. “Key designs for the decade included dresses with cinched waists, pencil skirts, poodle skirts, gingham and polka dot garments, cropped sweaters and cardigans, and much more. The key shape for the decade was a feminine, exaggerated hourglass silhouette.”

With that in mind, let’s take a look at Jasmine’s creative reimagination of some of our favorite Disney princesses!

Sleeping Beauty

Doesn’t this outfit just scream 1950s? With the A-line dress and plunging neckline, Jasmine looks every bit the 50s socialite and housemaker, don’t you think? I absolutely love this dress! This style is certainly as stunning today as it was nearly 70 years ago.

Cinderella

This gorgeous cocktail dress paired with the opera gloves certainly reflects 1950s evening wear. Add in the sparkling blue color and the white of the gloves, and you have the perfect 50s Cinderella, ready to rock the town!

Charlotte La Bouff

Even though Charlotte La Bouff is a supporting character and not a famed Disney princess herself, it’s still fun to see how Jasmine interpreted her look! If you’ve seen the 2009 Disney film, “The Princess and the Frog,” then you’ll know Charlotte “Lottie” La Bouff is an energetic Southern belle.

Alice in Wonderland

While Alice isn’t technically a princess, she’s just as iconic and recognizable as everyone else with that title. I think this might be my favorite one on the list. Wearing the romper instead of a dress is definitely in line with what Alice probably would have chosen to wear, instead of her dress. I also love how Jasmine used the white cardigan – a staple of any 1950s wardrobe – to incorporate the white of Alice’s apron. Brilliant!

Bonus: The Cast of Scooby-Doo!

In a separate TikTok video, Jasmine shows us her 1950s translations of Scooby-Doo characters. I absolutely love this! Scooby is perfect, facial expression and all. Fred and Daphne are also spot on with the colors and feel of the whole outfit. Velma gets a bit of an edgier upgrade, while Shaggy gets a complete makeover! I love it though.
