Although Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc. announced the recall of their six oz., 12 oz. and 28 oz. vegetable trays back June 15th, there have been more reported illnesses since then, and the number of affected people is growing. The vegetable trays (containing broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery sticks and accompanying dill dip) were reportedly contaminated with cyclospora, a parasite that can cause an intestinal infection known as “cyclosporiasis.” This infection can result in bloating, gas, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss and/or fatigue, and there are now over 200 reported cases of infection and seven hospitalizations.

Contaminated product was shipped to and distributed in clear, plastic containers from “Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin,” and each has a “Best If Enjoyed By” date of June 17, 2018 (or earlier).

People who purchased any of Del Monte’s affected products (full list here) are urged to throw them away or see a doctor or physician if they’re demonstrating any of the flu-like symptoms frequently associated with cyclosporiasis. Questions can also be directed to Del Monte’s 24-hour customer service line at 1-800-659-6500.
