Clogged toilets are one of the most common problems that we have all experienced. If you’ve ever had to watch in horror as the toilet water level rises, you can definitely relate. Meanwhile, some of us are residing in short-term rentals and these properties tend to have a host of problems when it comes to the plumbing and long response times from apartment managers.

This handyman method for unclogging a toilet is simple, foolproof, and doesn’t even require a plunger! All you really need is some liquid dish soap, like Dawn.

To get started, take a half cup of the liquid dish soap and pour it directly into the toilet. Allow the soap to sit for at least 30 minutes to give the soap a chance to seep deeper into the toilet.

After 30 minutes, take a bucket of piping hot water and carefully pour it into the bowl. Put as much hot water into the bowl as possible, being careful not to overflow it or slosh water over the sides.

After that, the clog should be loosened enough to begin draining and flush with ease!
