Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

I have some fond memories of my elementary school teachers. They were always so nice and patient with me, particularly since I wasn’t the best at math growing up.

Teachers can make a world of difference in their students’ lives, and these days with the current global pandemic, teachers have been really stretched to their limits as they navigate the classroom under such strange circumstances.

They often don’t get as much credit as they deserve. But as a thank you to teachers for all their efforts during the pandemic, an event hall in Riverview, Florida, is now giving away free wedding dresses to teachers.

One of the teachers who was surprised with a wedding dress was a fourth-grade teacher at Riverview Elementary School, Jenna Rose. She was completely taken by surprise and was touched by the kind gesture.

According to ABC Action News, she said, “This means the world to me, and the fact that I can share it with my kids means even more to me. It’s such a special moment.”

The person who nominated Rose was Teri Madill, the elementary school’s principal. Madill chose to nominate the teacher because of her caring nature. As Madill explained to the news outlet, “As an educator, that’s what it’s all about. If she has a heart for the kids, the kids are going to want to learn and they love her in return.”

Rose admitted that the recognition was very nice, given that the last few years have been very trying with the whole global pandemic getting in the way of normal life. She said it had been quite challenging, calling it the “understatement of the century,” trying to navigate this new world.

But, Rose added that “I’ve learned a lot about myself and about my kids and about my career, so that’s been rewarding.”

Rose also shared that the free dress will be a huge help in terms of helping to pay for a whole wedding while on a school teacher’s salary. She shared that the free dress means that there is one less financial thing to worry about in the wedding budget, and that is “amazing.”
