Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Chances are, most of us adults don’t live in the same home that we grew up in. In fact, some of us may no longer live in the same city or even the same state as when we were children.

But no matter where we go in the world, there will always be a house that we’ll remember as our house – the place of fond childhood memories that we can now only revisit in our memories.

But most of those houses are just special to us. They’re hardly newsworthy when they get sold. Unless, that house happens to be the childhood home of Taylor Swift.

Well, before she was a household name, she lived in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was that farm that she grew up on that she has often sung about in certain songs of hers like “Christmas Tree Farm” or “Seven.” And now, it turns out that the original home is now being sold.

The house was purchased by Swift’s family back in 1997 for only $280,000. But now, that same 1929 Georgian-style residence measuring 3,560 square feet is a bit pricier. The property, which has five bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths set on a 3/4-acre lot with a decent-sized backyard and detached two-car garage, was first listed at more than $1 million. But not, it has dropped down to just $999,900.

The upscale neighborhood in which its set had close ties to the local textile mill industry back in the day. Over the years, it has been sold several times and gotten a few makeovers, but perhaps the home’s biggest claim to fame is, of course, having once been a home for Taylor Swift. Because of this, the house is no stranger to fans wanting to take pictures of the home or trying to find souvenirs of her time there.

Even though it has seen some updates to its structure, there are still many historic details left in the house, including a very stately entrance as well as a formal dining room with decorative molding. The living room of the home has a set of French doors that lead out to a covered patio on the side of the home, which has both a wood-burning fireplace and plenty of bookshelf space. Looks like the ideal space if you’re a bookworm.

The home’s kitchen is quite large and comes with a marble-top island, large sink, wooden cutting board, and commercial-grade Viking range with a double oven, as well as plenty of storage space. There are also built-in appliances like a refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. It looks like the dream kitchen if you’re someone who enjoys cooking. Just off the kitchen is a little breakfast nook that gets plenty of natural lighting.

Other features of the property include a den, a butler’s pantry with a wet bar, a second story with primary and secondary bedrooms, three bedrooms on the top floor, and a basement. The outside of the home features a playground, pool, and a fenced-in garden for those who enjoy getting their hands dirty.

Of course, if you’re really serious about potentially buying this property then you can get in touch with the representing agents, Eric J. Miller & Eric P. Miller at ReMax of Reading.
