Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

May the 4th might have come and gone, but in order to coincide with it, Barbie did something special to mark the occasion and unveiled a new line of high-fashion “Star Wars” inspired Barbies. Yeah, we’re not making this up, it truly does get as good as this. While 2020 may have given us a pandemic, Barbie is giving us a reason to smile again.

The four dolls are all inspired by iconic characters from the films. There’s a Rey, Chewbacca, C-3PO, and a Stormtrooper. While they’re not authentically the characters of the films, the dolls are more a fashionable interpretation of what Barbie would wear within the Star Wars universe.

As Mattel, the maker of Barbie, explained in a statement, “A galactic fashion force. All-new Star Wars x Barbie Dolls inspired by the films’ original concept art, the collection re-imagines iconic characters through a high-fashion filter.”

There has already been a lot of buzz over the Chewbacca doll, who has been lovingly referred to as “Chewbarbie.”

Of course, Rey was given a glamorous makeover, like she’s headed to a red carpet event.

Meanwhile, C-3PO was given a very high-fashion twist.

However, perhaps the most transformative look came from the Stormtrooper, who went from hard military to high fashion. Very impressive.

All the Barbies are available online at Mattel’s website for pre-order. They’re all $100 each, except for the Chewbacca Barbie who is $150. They’re not so much toys, as they are collectables that you can put on display for all to see. You can also pre-order them through Amazon in order to take advantage of Prime’s free shipping.

This isn’t the first set of Star Wars barbies. Since last year, Barbie released Princess Leia, R2D2, and Darth Vader dolls – the entire set which can be bought for $480.

The dolls will be expected to begin shipping in June. Which one or ones would you pick?
