Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

This might be considered a hot take but we are of the opinion that there is no such thing an icky food. If you do not like it, that just means that your taste buds still have some maturing to do.

However, this story is definitely putting that principle to the test. There is now sliced mayonnaise. Yes, you read that right: Sliced mayonnaise. Bourbon Co., Ltd. is the Japanese company that is responsible for this “innovation.” In case you were wondering, Food and Wine has already confirmed it. There is no turning back now.

If you recall, there were slices of ketchup that received the viral treatment not that long ago. We guess that it was only a matter of time before someone decided that it was time to duplicate that feat with the use of mayo.

There has to be someone out there who is excited by this culinary development, we just don’t know who. As far as the mayo slices go, they’re similar to cheese slices in appearance and come in a wide range of flavors.

If mayo slices aren’t your jam, you can also take home tuna slices. We must admit that we are rather intrigued by the concept of mentaiko. This spicy cod roe is supposed to be blended with the mayo slices to create a more robust flavor.

Sliced apple butter and sliced chocolate are also offered by the company. If you are looking to take these slices home, you are going to need to buy a ticket to Japan. All you need is $1.80 to grab your own pack…once you have shelled out for the plane ticket, of course!
