Those who have access to Prime Video are about to be in for a major treat this summer. They have decided to reboot the classic film “A League of Their Own” for the streaming age and we are very excited.

As major fans of the 1992 classic, we were wondering if anyone from the original film would be involved and we finally have our answer.

As you will recall, Rosie O’Donnell provided a memorable performance as third baseman Doris Murphy. She’ll be back for the reboot but in a totally different role! This time around, she’ll be playing the role of a well dressed local bar owner who goes by Vi. She’s a kind heart who happens to be a major fan of the Rockford Peaches.

Entertainment Weekly reports Vi is a “warm, gregarious” fan of the Rockford Peaches, the all-female baseball team that the movie and new series are built around.

Rosie has done them a solid by tweeting the link to their article. Once you have seen the photos of her in character, you are going to be stunned. It hardly looks like the Rosie that we know and love! She’s got on a sweet pinstriped suit and her grey hair has been slicked back. It’s quite the departure for her, isn’t it?

The bat-swinging brunette that we loved from the original film is long gone but this show looks like it will be great in its own right. The story will be centered around a group of women who fought for their right to play baseball during the second World War. This time around, the story will focus on a different set of baseball players, though.

Abbi Jacobson, who starred in Comedy Central’s critically acclaimed “Broad City,” created the show, alongside comedy writer Will Graham. Jacobson will also be starring in this series, alongside D’Arcy Carden, Chanté Adams, and Kate Berlant. Best of all, the one and only Nick Offerman will be on hand as well. We cannot wait to sit down and dig into this one.

“There’s no crying in baseball, or at Prime Video,” said Vernon Sanders, co-head of television for Amazon Studios, in a recent press release. “Will and Abbi have taken a classic movie, reimagining it for a new generation with new characters and their own fresh, modern vision on a timeless story of big dreams, friendship, love, and, of course, baseball.”
