Most homeowners have access a good old-fashioned cutting board, and many of us take it for granted. It’s a kitchen tool that most of us use but we do not consider it too thoroughly otherwise.

The pull-out cutting boards that we find in every home have actually been placed there with a real purpose in mind. According to Southern Living, the boards were actually placed in the home because they are supposed to be used for bread making.

This makes sense to us but people have definitely gotten away from making their own bread in recent years, as you would expect.

Of course, that was not the case during the early days of the pandemic. It seemed as if everyone who was stuck at home had suddenly decided that they were going to become a bread maker. We digress, though.

The cutting boards that have been built in are still great to have access to, at least. They are a wonderful tool for more general food preparation purposes.

Bakers used to use these boards to knead the bread, shape it into various loaves, and then place it in the oven. Now, most of us are using them to dice and chop various vegetables and sides. They are also great for food seasoning purposes.

According to Misen, cutting boards that are made out of maple are considered to be among the best.

It is one of the hardest and most durable types of wood available. This makes it the perfect choice, so that excessive knife cuts can be avoided. Maple is also highly resistant to the growth of bacteria, which makes it an even better choice than we realized. We have learned so much today and we hope that you did as well.
