When it comes to romantic comedies, the storylines are usually the same. But there is something so cheesy yet so entertaining about romantic comedies. While there are some great romantic comedies that have come out in recent years, there is still something about 90s romantic comedies that can’t be beat.

For example, based on last year’s Google search volume, they were able to determine that the residents of the state of Washington really enjoy watching the 1999 classic, 10 Things I Hate About You, which stars Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles. Given that the film is set in Seattle, we can understand the draw.

But in 12 other states, the 1995 movie Clueless, as well as My Best Friend’s Wedding from 1997, were the two most popularly Googled 90’s romcoms.

In at least 10 states, rom-coms that center around weddings, like Father of the Bride and The Wedding Singer, proved to be the most popular searches. And it isn’t just movies themselves that were popular according to the survey, but there were certain movie stars that also were common searches.

It comes as no surprise that Julia Roberts, who was a staple of the 90s rom-com scene, is still one of the popular searches.
