Old Bay Baked Oyster Crackers

Buttery, SO flavorful, and even more crunchy.

Crackers are great for snacking straight out of the box, but when we tried our hand at Alabama Fire Crackers we quickly learned that with just a little bit of doctoring you can take crackers to a whole new level of snack-scrumptiousness. These baked crackers take the ever-delicious oyster cracker and transform it into something buttery and flavorful and even more crunchy. Old Bay fan or not, they’re incredibly easy to love.

All you’re doing here is melting some butter and mixing it with some Old Bay seasoning and a few other goodies before tossing it with some cute little oyster crackers. You can give the crackers a little time to absorb that flavor, or you can spread them right out on a tray and stick them in the oven.

They bake for just fifteen minutes or so. And while they do, they turn buttery and golden brown and take on all of that savory flavor from the Worcestershire, chives, mustard and Old Bay. The Old Bay isn’t overpowering but it adds a lot of flavor to a cracker that is otherwise pretty basic.

This is isn’t complicated, it isn’t time-intensive, but what it does is take the already great oyster cracker and turn it into something that’s positively irresistible. You can set out a bowl of these for snacking – and they’ll be gone in the blink of an eye – but they’re also amazing sprinkled over a bowl of clam chowder.

Old Bay Baked Oyster Crackers

Serves 6; 30 minutes

Ingredients
  • 10 oz oyster crackers
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chives
  • 1/4 tablespoon salt
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 250°F.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the butter, Old Bay, Worcestershire, mustard powder, chives, and salt.
  3. Add crackers and toss to coat.
  4. Spread crackers evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  5. Flip crackers over and bake until golden brown, 5-10 minutes more.
  6. Let cool 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
