This TikTok user is here to explain one of the most common myths when it comes to movie theater popcorn. The clip has gone viral and it comes to us courtesy of movie theater employee Paige DeCiancio, who can be found under the handle @paigedeciancio on the app.

Customers may think that they should request freshly made popcorn but in reality? That is not considered to be the best idea.

TikTok has been jam-packed with all sorts of movie theater hacks and tips, as employees love to share them with their followers. The video is particularly hilarious, as Paige starts the clip with a hysterical impression of a demanding customer who waltzes up to the counter and demands the very freshest popcorn that the theater has to offer.

“You actually don’t want the popcorn that’s directly out of the kettle,” the TikTok user says. “Because it’s so hot that it’s still this, like, warm mushball. It’s not good.” In fact, the best-tasting popcorn has already been sitting out for a bit, according to Paige. Most theaters will make popcorn on a consistent basis anyway, so moviegoers know that they are always getting high-quality eats.

“It’s not been sitting there for days on end,” she continued. “Popcorn actually doesn’t go stale for at least about a week, but you’re never gonna have popcorn a week old at a movie theater. Just so you know.”

Other movie theater employees contracted the sentiment and said fresh popcorn is the best but to each their own!

Our opinion (and Paige’s) may differ from the takes that other readers may have but that is okay. It is quite the debate but we expect it to be a good-natured one.

How do you like your popcorn? Do you need it fresh out of the popper or the microwave?
