Most of us think at some point in our life what it would be like to have unlimited money. With $1 billion or more, we can only imagine the good that we could do or the good that we would do for ourselves or others.

Some billionaires are known for being a little on the selfish side but others are rather kind and willing to give more than they take. That includes Mark Cuban, the owner of the Dallas Mavericks. He is known as being a giving individual and he certainly gave his all in Texas.

In 2017, the town of Mustang, Texas, went up for sale for $4 million. It seems like quite a reasonable price for an entire town. According to NBC News, when Cuban came along, he decided he would make the purchase because, in his words, a friend needed to sell it.

Marty Price was the principal owner of the town prior to the time that Cuban bought it. He cared for the town but after he got sick and died, Cuban decided he would make the purchase. He knew Marty because he was a huge basketball fan and owned floor seats.

At this point, you’re probably wondering what you would do with the town if you owned it. As far as Cuban is concerned, he doesn’t know what, if anything, he will do with it.

It is an investment but it certainly isn’t a huge city or a thriving metropolis that was purchased. In fact, the entire town of Mustang only covers 77 acres.

Approximately 20 people live in a trailer park inside of the city that was given the name in 2010 of “the smallest town in Texas.” According to a 2020 census, however, there was no one who officially lives in the town.

Founded in the 1970s, Mustang had the unique distinction of offering alcohol, although the rest of the county was dry. You can find it by driving about an hour south of Dallas.

Some of the things that are a claim to fame for the small town include the alligator that lives in the town pond and a man being murdered at an abandoned strip club in 2018.

The town was on the market for $4 million but nobody is really sure what Cuban paid for the property as of yet. He had not disclosed the final price, but he did say that it sold for less than the asking price.
