Desperate For Friendship, Man Hosts A Pancake Get-Together For Strangers
It can be difficult to make new friends, especially when you are in a new neighborhood and in the middle of a pandemic. We can take the page out of one man’s book, however, and make new friends by making pancakes.
After all, who doesn’t love pancakes?

Curtis Kimball, who just so happens to own The Crème Brûlée Cart, decided to do something nice in the neighborhood where he now lives in San Francisco. He even sold it well, making up flyers that said: “My wife says I’m getting weird. She says I need to make friends. So I’m making pancakes.”
It didn’t take long to realize he was on to something big. In fact, if this had been done online, you would say that it went viral.

In an interview with TODAY, he admitted that he didn’t know what to expect when he first started and he even said he was terrified of setting things up. Just the simple act of going out and putting up flyers made him “nervous and self-conscious.”
He reasoned: “Like, this could be a really dumb idea and everyone might hate it. But the first people showed up right away, they lived two doors down and they were very excited.”
He wanted to keep track of the event so he posted it on his Twitter account.
San Francisco is in a bad way. Vibes are all effed up. I can’t do much to solve the problems here, but I can make pancakes. So I hung up fliers all over the neighborhood and made pancakes. Over 75 people came and over 125 pancakes were eaten. Here’s what I learned: 👇 pic.twitter.com/EnGKW8tL7g

In the end, it was a huge hit and not only did people come, but they also brought their kids and dogs.
For Kimball, it was a huge relief and was really something positive, despite the struggles that San Francisco has with various challenges.
2. Foodieism may be done. Because they’re just free pancakes, the vibe of being a pancake critic rather than a pancake enjoyer want present. Not every part of the experience needed to be graded. People just living in the moment. Pancake participants, if you will. pic.twitter.com/qi7HKzCMjZ

In fact, he had such a good time doing it and people loved it so much that he plans on taking it on the road to other neighborhoods. He would like to expand his social circle in San Francisco beyond his own neighborhood.
4. If you’re hungry to connect, chances are good other people are too. We’re all tired from the last 2 years(6 years really), but there’s something incredibly rejuvenating about experiencing little joys with other humans. pic.twitter.com/GDECzIOals

In fact, Yahoo! reports that he would like to have his Saturday morning pancake parties in other areas around the country!
I guess it never hurts to dream big.
