This is the sort of story that needs to be shared with a much wider audience as soon as possible, so that crisis can be averted. We can hardly believe what we saw here.
This woman was left in a panic as her leather couch went up in flames and she had no idea why or how it was happening. The couch began to smoke one day out of nowhere.
Lydia Cooke shared the footage on her TikTok page and we were spellbound. She is hoping to help others to avoid the same fate that she experienced.
The couch happened to be perched next to a window with the curtains open when the incident took place.
The sunlight was powerful enough to heat up the fabric and that’s when things got scary. This caused a safety hazard, a hazard that she is doing everything in her power to warn the viewers at home about.
“I was today years old when I learnt how house fires can start,” the text on the video reads. The sun ray honed in on one spot of the couch, in particular.
Once the couch began to sizzle and smoke, Lydia did the best that she could to put a stop to it. Cooke tried to swat at the smoke and then she attempted to flip the cushion over to put a stop to the threat.

In a follow-up video, she explained how the sunlight had gotten so strong and it was due to the fact that it was reflecting off of her makeup mirror.
“Mirrors. Glasses. Eye glasses. Anything with a reflective surface can pinpoint to a hot point,” explained one viewer and we are beyond stunned to see this. It’s the sort of mistake that anyone could make. That’s what is so terrifying about this.
@lydiacooke Replying to @Chenny Chann an explanation… hope it’s been educational in some way! #sofafire #explain
“I love how you’re slapping it away because that would’ve been my exact reaction,” said another viewer and we are right there with them. A huge thank you to Lydia for being willing to pass this one along!
