Why Logos Are Becoming Simpler
We sometimes recognize companies by their logos. It doesn’t take more than a glance to recognize the company, and sometimes it can be an advertisement of its own, just to see the image without any additional text.
Undoubtedly, logos are a big part of business and they always will be. In recent years, however, there has been a trend for many companies to re-brand their logos and make them much simpler.

This causes many people to wonder why, in a world where we have so many different options for creating logos, many big companies are deciding to forgo those options and keep them simple.
This was brought out very nicely by Ben Schott with Bloomberg. As a Bloomberg columnist, he often looks into the details of the situation, and he puts things together nicely in a video.

In the video below, he explains that one of the reasons why many companies are simplifying their logos is because they need them to work well on mobile devices. Quite honestly, we are bombarded with visuals on a daily basis, and just because anyone can make a change to a logo or image is not necessarily mean that it is always the best choice.
He also talks about the maturity of the brand. In many cases, early startups will have a complicated logo but as the company grows financially, the logo is often scaled-down.

This is seen in some of the biggest companies around the world where they take their logos from “flamboyant to flat, wacky to bland.”
