Cutting even clean cut cake slices to feed a crowd is like fitting a square into a round peg, it’s just doesn’t work out without it becoming a mess. This is especially true of a round 8-inch cake. At first glance, we see a round cake, and we can’t see it as feeding a super large crowd. Sure, a round cake is for a small, intimate event, but for an actual party of people? No way! Well, a round cake can feed a crowd thanks to this cutting technique.

Instagram user bakedmeringue shows that feeding a crowd with a round cake is a cinch. First, cut the cake into eight slices.

Then cut a diamond shape in each of the eight slices.

Start plating the edges of the diamond slices. When you’re left with just the diamond-shaped slices of cake, cut each diamond slice in half.

With this method, you get thirty-two slices, enough to give everyone a good chunk without it looking like a limp, thin sliver.
