2022 marks the 20-year anniversary of the theatrical release of the classic film 8 Mile. Eminem has been celebrating all year long and now, New York City residents are able to get in on the fun.
Detroit residents and Eminem fans are probably already well aware of his Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant already. It’s a great concept and we have often found ourselves we could go.
That’s why we are happy to pass along the good news for those who reside in NYC. Mom’s Spaghetti is coming to the Shopify retail space in New York’s SoHo neighborhood. Those who wish to stop by can head over on November 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and November 12, 13, 19 and 20 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Once you arrive, you will be greeted by a cardboard carton of spaghetti, with or without meatballs. There will also be limited edition merchandise on hand and a recreation of the famous 8 Mile set. Several vinyl records are available, as well as apparel. Mom’s Spaghetti first launched as a pop-up back in 2017 before finding a permanent home in Detroit in September 2021.
“We’ve had a lot of fun putting this project together with the folks at Union Joints, and the response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg in a statement. It’s the sort of idea that made too much sense not to happen and we are so happy to see it come to fruition.
“The previous pop-ups were really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly-occurring Mom’s Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long. We are really pleased to announce the arrival of the walk-up restaurant and adjacent upstairs store, called The Trailer, where fans can experience a uniquely-curated environment and obtain merch and other items from Eminem and his new pasta operation,” Rosenberg continues.
This is great news for anyone who is wondering if this restaurant will ever make its way to their city. It’s a holy grail for Eminem fans and we hope that all of the Slim Shady fans out there pass this one along to their friends in the New York City area.
Now, if you will excuse us, all of this talk about 8 Mile has gotten us nostalgic. Time to watch it for the 1,000th time!
