Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Dolly Parton has long been one of America’s favorite singers and celebrities. Her down-to-earth mannerisms, her love of reading and music, and her willingness to talk to her fans and the press both have given her a firm place in pop culture. She’s won multiple Grammys and Country Music Awards, but long before her music made her famous she learned to bake growing up in the mountains in Tennessee. Now, she’s got a new venture with one of the most well known names in cake mixes: Duncan Hines.

Parton says that her mother, her aunts, and her grandmother were all fabulous cooks which is how she learned to make good food. She is particularly fond of Southern cooking and even loves to bake. Now, her line of Duncan Hines products has some Southern style cake mixes and frostings- each with a pink, Barbie-esque image of Parton on the label. Even the font is reminiscent of the famous doll!

In the new line there is Southern Style Banana Cake, Southern Style Coconut Cake, Creamy Buttercream Frosting, and Creamy Chocolate Buttercream Frosting.

There’s also a coordinating apron and rubber spatula available with the new line’s motto on them : “if you are what you eat why not be sweet?” and the whole collection box (which sold for $40 and included recipe cards and a letter from Parton herself) at the Duncan Hines website sold out within minutes of being made available.

In an interview with CBS Mornings Gayle King asked Parton how it feels to be so universally adored by the public and Parton said that after all these years of being in the spotlight she feels happy that people think of her like family. She said, “People feel like they know me and they’ve just kind of accepted me. And, now that I’m older they just kind of think of me as like an older sister or a favorite aunt.”

In the interview she also revealed that she has a new book coming out with suspense author, James Patterson. Parton just turned 76-years-old (and had her banana cake to celebrate) and doesn’t seem to be slowing any time soon!

As for the eye-catching Duncan Hines-Dolly Parton products beginning in March of 2022 the mixes and frostings should be rolling out to grocery stores across the nation.
