For most engaged couples, all of the processes that are associated with their weddings are handled before the big day arrives. It makes sense to us.
Rushing through any sort of checklist when they are getting prepared for their wedding day is the last thing that anyone wants to do. That’s why this particular story is so funny to us.
Whether it is something as simple as the bridesmaids’ dresses or the type of music that will be spun at the wedding itself, these are the decisions that are made well before the big day arrives. You would think that a decision this major would be included among them but alas, it is not. The couple that you are about to meet decided to save one of the biggest decisions of all for last.
They did not decide whose last name would be chosen until the literal last minute of the wedding ceremony itself!
This is one of the gutsiest choices that we have ever seen when it comes to a wedding. The couple must have nerves of steel because we would have been so anxious when we got to the big event and still did not know what our last names would be going forward.
TikToker Alyssa Danielle (@diaryofasolotraveler) has since memorialized the moment on TikTok. Kudos to her for doing so because we needed to see this one for ourselves. We never would have believed a word of this if we had not seen it on our own. What an amazingly fearless couple!
“Favorite New Wedding Tradition!” the caption on the TikTok Danielle shared. “POV: your friends decide whose last name they are taking by a flip of a coin at the alter.”
Unfortunately, it is a bit difficult to make out what is being said in the clip. The couple’s chosen soundtrack ends up drowning out what the officiant had to say when they were pronounced man and wife.

The song choice? Pharrell Williams’ “Just a Cloud Away”, which is a common selection for a lot of weddings these days. The viewers who checked out this clip had one question that they needed to have answered. Who won the coin flip?
“Many of you guessed it right based on the facial expressions, that he did win the coin flip,” she says. What do you think of this one? Would you be willing to do such a thing? Let us know…
